Faces of Latin America

Celebrating Diversity in Saint John

Welcome to Faces of Latin America, an exhibition that celebrates the vibrant Latin American community in Saint John as part of the 2024 Latin American Heritage Month celebrations. This initiative is generously funded by the City of Saint John, the Government of New Brunswick, and the Government of Canada, with additional support from our sponsors, Donnelly Mortgages, Casa Latina, and the Saint John Free Public Library. This year marks the third year that Red Latin Southwest New Brunswick has organized these celebrations, reflecting the region's continuous growth and contributions of the Latin American community.

Latin American Heritage Month was officially recognized by the Government of Canada in October 2018. This month highlights the contributions of Latin Americans to the country. Each October, this month provides an opportunity to honour the cultural traditions, history, and achievements of Latin Americans while also raising awareness of the unique challenges they face as immigrants and minorities.

Initially displayed during the 2024 Latin American Heritage Month Saint John Community Celebration on October 19th, 2024, this exhibition moved to the Saint John Free Public Library, where it will be showcased from October 21st to November 3rd, 2024.

Curated by Red Latin Southwest New Brunswick, Faces of Latin America brings together personal stories and experiences of individuals and families who now call Saint John home. Through heartfelt storytelling and powerful photography, the exhibition highlights the pride, sense of belonging, and community spirit of Latin Americans in this city.

Thanks to the support of our funders and sponsors and the collaboration of local photographers and artists, we are proud to present these stories in EnglishSpanishFrench, and Portuguese—a true celebration of our community's multicultural richness.

Join us in celebrating these remarkable individuals as they share their journeys, triumphs, and hopes for the future. Together, we honour the spirit of Latin American Heritage Month and the importance of unity in diversity.
